Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School
Since 1967, SCOUTS New Zealand's Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School has provided the highest quality aviation training in the country for budding young pilots aged 16-19.
In 2018, 70 students attended the popular two-week long training camp at Matamata. The Walsh has many past students with successful careers in aviation. In 2018 we were pleased to welcome Flight Lieutenant Daniel Pezaro, RNZAF, a past Walsh student, to present our young pilots with their Wings.
Students must be New Zealand citizens. The course starts at the very basics of learning to fly. Students should have no more than minimal previous flight experience (up to 2 hours, preferrably only a trial flight at the local aero club or flying school).
Cost: Fees for the 2019 school are yet to be finalised but we anticipate a small increase on the 2018 school fees. Fees for the 2018 school were $1745 for first year Venturer and Ranger students or $490 for returning students. The fee for first year non-Venturer/non-Ranger students was $1945.
Next School: Friday 11th - Friday 25th January 2019
