22nd NZ Scout Jamboree
Imagine! Over 4000 members of the Scouting community – all camped together for 11 days at the end of 2019. There will be adventure, excitement, challenges and mysteries. This is the year of the 22nd New Zealand Scout Jamboree!
Jamboree is all the greatest things about Scout camps. Good company, good food and getting out into the outdoors. Most Scouts will only get one chance to attend a Jamboree so it’s often described as the highlight of their time as a Scout. Make sure you don’t miss out – registrations are open now for all Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Leaders.
Scouts arrive onsite at Mystery Creek Events Centre, near Hamilton, on the 28th December 2019. From there, it’s non-stop entertainment. There will be 6 days of activities, a day led by the Jamboree Patrol, a Market Day, a New Years Eve Party, and heaps of mysteries to explore on the Jamboree Site. Scouts will test their personal limits, work together as a team, develop their critical thinking, survival skills, and independence throughout the camp. They’ll be talking about their adventures until the next Jamboree in three years’ time!
Jamboree is run entirely by volunteers, and it’s amazing to watch the whole community coming together to produce this event. Venturers are involved as the Venturer Staff Team (VST). They work hard during the day doing all sorts of jobs and then party hard with their own activities in the evening. Our Queens Scout Recipients have the privilege to host the Jamboree as part of the Host Corps. Rovers and Leaders of all descriptions come together to work on everything from running activities to catering to managing the site, all to make the Jamboree run smoothly for the Scouts.
