Uniform update


As promised an update on the process for the introduction of the new uniform.

It was hoped to have the uniform available to the movement from April but this has been postponed for a few weeks, for a variety of reasons, but almost entirely due to design, manufacturing and supply delays.
In addition, time taken in confirming the exact and fine details of the finished article (such as the precise shade of silver and exact design/dimensions of the fern and world badge) has been drawn out longer than expected.

We apologise for this, as we are aware that people are keen to get into the new uniform.
As planned, the prototypes for the new uniform were shared with attendees at the 19th SCOUT Jamboree at Mystery Creek by way of fashion show and static display, and were very warmly received, along with some excellent feedback and discussion.

Following the Jamboree work has been ongoing with the supplier and manufacturer to refine and complete the finished article for pre production authorisation. This is now almost complete but has been slowed by delays offshore.

The new roll out schedule will be as follows

  • Pricing will be confirmed to the movement by the end of May
  • Orders for the new uniform will be taken from July 1st 2011
  • Delivery of the new uniform will be August 1st 2011.
  • The phase in for the new uniform will be two years as previously advised
  • The phase in will be in three stages

Interim position

  • There are still reasonable stocks of green polo’s, most sizes.
  • If you are unable to buy a green polo due to a lack of stock in your size, you may choose to purchase an Adventure Plus Tee shirt which is perfectly acceptable as an interim uniform.

There will be further updates on the first of each month until the uniform is in delivery phase and then further updates relating to each stage of the phase-in and the items being introduced.
