Sea Scouts

Because many major cities in New Zealand are found near seas and lakes, some of our groups are called Sea Scouts and they engage in specific water-based activities and training, such as canoeing, rafting, swimming and scuba-diving.

Sea Scouts facilities are found near to the water so their programmes for Keas, Cubs Scouts, Venturers and Rovers often involve beach or lake environments.

Scouts and Venturers who are Sea Scouts learn to handle sailing and rowing boats, and enjoy participating in regular regattas.

Sea Scouts in New Zealand celebrated their centenary in 2009.
