Our National Schools
SCOUTS New Zealand is proud to provide seven specialised National Schools for its youth members. We encourage young people into the outdoors, and our National Schools form a core part of SCOUTS in New Zealand and offer unique training in specialised areas.
Our seven specialised National Schools operate throughout the year during the school holidays.
Scouts and Venturers learn skills specific to their interests, have unforgettable experiences, and leave with lifelong friends. Our National Schools are open to non-members, but preference is given to members as numbers are limited.
The Aviation School, for Scouts, is run every year and gives attendees the chance to both fly a plane, and learn about the aviation industry. It gives attendees a unique insight into the basics of flight and is a useful stepping stone for those interested in all aspects of aviation.

The Canoe School, for Venturers and Scouts 14+, is run every year and sees attendees make their way down the Whanganui River. With a large number of rapids to work their way through down the river, attendees are given tuition in canoe & kayak handling and safe navigation of river systems.

For those wanting to spend some more time under the ground than above it, our National Caving School (for Venturers and Scouts 14+) is ideal. The attendees will receive expert tuition in caving and rope skills in order to be safe underground and continue exploring New Zealand's numerous underground networks.
