Despite our leaders and other volunteers giving their time for free, successful Scouting still requires funds - for venue hire and upkeep, equipment, to run camps, provide badges and make activities accessible for everyone.
Fundraising is essential to giving young people the life-changing experiences that Scouting provides, at a price that all our Scouts can afford. Without the funds generated for SCOUTS each year we wouldn't be able to achieve the things that we do. Your gift will help us to develop the adventurous activities we offer to our 15,000 youth members, keep the cost of Scouting low, recruit more leaders for the young people on our waiting lists, train volunteers and improve facilities, reach into new communities, help more young people live healthier lives and get outdoors and open new groups in disadvantaged communities.
With your help we can offer Scouting to even more children and young people straight away, including those currently on our waiting list.
You can donate online, or by cheque made payable to ‘The Scout Association of New Zealand’ and send to our Partner Relationship Manager at SCOUTS, 1, Kaiwharawhara Road, PO Box 11348, Wellington 6142. Please do not send cash. If you would like to talk to someone about your donation, please call us on 04 815 8903.
Regular giving and bequests
Leaving the legacy of Scouting for future generations: Some supporters prefer to invest in the longer term so that Scouting can continue at a low cost for this and future generations of kiwis. If that’s you, one way to give support is through a regular donation or bequest. You can do this directly to SCOUTS New Zealand by donating online or pledging a bequest to 'the Scout Association of New Zealand', or through the Scout Youth Foundation - where members donate annually, give a lump sum or pledge a bequest, and their financial support helps build a long term endowment fund. Contact us for more information on bequests and find out more about the Scout Youth Foundation here.
Fundraise for us
If you decide to fundraise for us, then you can be confident that the money you raise through your own adventures will help us make a real difference to the lives of young people. You can set up a fundraising page for your event, with donations going directly to the SCOUTS NZ.
For Scouts and leaders, log into the Members website for more resources to help you fundraise, including the files you need to make a funding application for your group, school or event.
For chocolate fundraising, you can order here.
SCOUTS are always on the lookout for new partnerships. Corporate partnerships play an important role in helping make sure SCOUT activities are relevant and accessible for all. SCOUTS provide mutually beneficial sponsorship opportunities for corporate partners which are individually tailored. Our combined network of youth members, volunteers and parents is 50,000 and we are based in 400+ communities across New Zealand. We can help develop and manage projects that help you to utilise that network in a way that is beneficial to both.
Whatever industry you're part of, and whatever your business does, let’s discuss how our network can enrich the lives of young people as well as your business, your employees and your customers. Contact our Partner Relationship Manager by email or 04 815 8903.
Trusts and Foundations
Trusts and foundations play a key role in the support and development of Scouting across New Zealand. Among other things they help us to:
• cover salary costs for essential project staff
• provide funds for specific projects
• ensure the longevity of our projects by pledging funds over several years.
Individual trusts and foundations usually choose to fund work that reflects their own location, origins, interests and priorities. Our team manage these important relationships, working to build close partnerships that ensure our funders are kept fully informed of the impact they have on the lives of young people. If you are a representative of a trust or foundation and would like to know more about any aspect of the work of SCOUTS New Zealand, please email or call our Partner Relationship Manager on 04 815 8903.
